Rugged, dependable and very much steeped in heritage, it has long been the benchmark vehicle for adventurers on the road. And now, enter the Defender OCTA - the latest addition to the family and a bold step forward for this iconic nameplate. But what makes the OCTA different to other Defenders? And why is it set to redefine what we expect from one of our favourite all-terrain vehicles? Sleek, yet robust, it marries modern aesthetics with classic Defender grit. True to its name, the OCTA introduces unique octagonal design cues across its bodywork - from the grille pattern to the alloy wheels. While still boxy at heart, the OCTA features refined aerodynamics, improving efficiency without sacrificing the Defender’s characteristic silhouette. There’s a 6D Dynamics air suspension included, which intelligently responds to different driving styles. This isn’t just an off-roader; it’s a digital powerhouse designed for the modern adventurer. The OCTA introduces Land Rover’s latest AI-powered terrain response system, which learns your driving habits and automatically adjusts for optimal performance, whether you’re crossing rocky roads or navigating across snowy mountain trails. The OCTA Mode also has a unique braking calibration that’s designed to help with loose gravel surfaces.    With built-in 5G capability, the OCTA ensures you stay connected even in the most remote locations, meaning it’s perfect for accessing maps, streaming music and staying in touch with people. There’s next-gen infotainment, with a 13-inch curved touchscreen paired with voice-activated controls, which will no doubt help when navigating - and when bouncing over rugged terrain you certainly need to keep both hands on the wheel, that’s for sure!   **A touch of ‘green’ for the newest Defender**   The OCTA retains its off-road prowess whilst also taking a significant step forward in terms of sustainability. It’s available as a fully electric model, delivering zero emissions without compromising on power, while the hybrid version combines a petrol engine with a powerful electric motor, offering impressive range and reduced environmental impact. A variety of sustainable materials are used - inside there are many recycled materials featured, including eco-friendly upholstery options that still exude premium quality.   **Where power meets precision**   Land Rover states on their website that the OCTA is the ‘most powerful Defender ever made.’ Certainly, it’s no lightweight when it comes to performance with its uprated V8 engine and maximum 635hp. With a choice of engines - from a punchy turbocharged petrol to the groundbreaking electric one - there’s something for everyone. The updated suspension and increased ground clearance make tackling even the most challenging ground a bit of a breeze.
